suppose I have a 2 degree polynomial that's a quadratic. We know its degree is 2 !
so the curve will cut the x axis twice. Please see the figure

We know that quadratic with complex roots, won't cross the x-axis. The graph I drew could also be of a 4th degree polynomial with two complex roots.
