Finding the shortest route. A man in a rowboat 4 kilometers from the nearest point on a straight shore wishes to reach his house 8 kilometers down the shore. If he can row at a rate of 2kph and walk at rate of 4kph, how should he proceed in order to arrive at his house in the shortest possible time?
