Are the two triangles similar? If so, how do you know? Figure is below

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If all three sides are in the same ratio with the other triangle's sides, then it is similar.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i.e.:\[\frac{12}{8}=\frac{7.5}{5}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What theorem or postulate you think it would be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The one that says 'If all of triangle A's sides are in the same proportion to each of the matching sides of triangle B, A and B are similar' You could probably derive that from more fundamental principals.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Did you see the figure above?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. 0M=1.5CA, ON=1.5CB, and MN=1.5AB

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah i see so if the triangle has to be proportionate to the other one they have to be equal on all sides?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, as therefore all the angles are forced into being the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah never mind I get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So would you say it is SSS since its measured by its sides?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes.

Thank you so much
