OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

problem number 8 please help i will upload it

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is \(f\) after you factor and cancel?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it \(x^2-4x-5\)?

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

i got x^2-4x+5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no maybe \(x^2-4x+5\)

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok then we want to solve \[|x^2-4x+5-2|<0.01\] for \(x\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[|x^2-4x+3|<0.01\] \[|(x-1)(x-3)|<.01\] \[|x-1||x-3|<0.01\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now if \(x\) is close to 3, then \(x-1\) is close to 2, so intuitively we can write \(2|x-3|<0.01\) which would mean \(|x-3|<0.005\)

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

should i slove it

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

solve

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

x<3.005,x<2.995

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says "within how many units" i would say .005

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

ok then we want to solve |x2−4x+5−2|<0.01 for x How did u subtracted 2
