I'm a junior and am having a difficult time understanding algebra II

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm doing proportions 3/2 = 9/x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you show me how you got that answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just think. 3 times what is nine?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so will I multiply 3/2 x 3 to get 9/x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{3}{2}=\frac{9}{x}\] cross multiply 3x=18 divide by 3 x=6 or \[\frac{3}{2}=\frac{9}{x}\] multiply both sides by x \[\frac{3}{2}x=9\] then multiply both sides by 2 3x=18 divide by 3 x=6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

evaluate the function f(c)=$1.19x15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

makes no sense you have a function in terms of c with no c in it and im not sure if the x is a variable or a multiplication sign

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry let C =cost/bottle f(c)=total cost I may have figured it out
