How did the differences between the early northern and southern colonies effect the future?

here's some points to get you started
-people- think of the difference between the crowded northern cities and the south that had alot of land
-climate- the growing season is VERY short north of the mason-dixion line...it's the cut off for many plants
-the terrian- PA on upward is all mountains and rivers
