OpenStudy (allieatthedisco):

A square and a rectangle have equal areas. The rectangle is 64 cm by 81 cm. What is the perimeter of the square?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A square's area is side x side and a rectangle is width x length. A square's perimeter is therefor s^2. since they are both equal to each other in terms of area, set up an equation so that the area of square = area of rectangle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First know that a rectangle's area is L x W. So 64 x 81 = 5184. Now a square has four equal sides. So the square root of this area will give us the side of a square. sqrt(5184) = 72 A square has 4 sides. So 72+72+72+72 = Perimeter Perimeter of Square = 288 cm.
