(I'm sorry for the weirdness of this question, but this is how it was written) At a time when the tension between Iran and United States was escalating, the Iranian government decides to build a missile capable of reaching Washington D.C. (assume it is launched at a 45 degree angle and the distance between the two is10494200 meters) A) Find the minimum speed it should attain at launch? B) If such a missile is built and launched, how much time does the US air defense system has to intercept the missile before it hits the White House?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow! some question! the first part should be easy - what dos one mean by the second question? time of flight?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Second question sounds like somebody planning to blow up that building.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the second question; you just have to use the minimum speed that was found in question 1, and find how long the missile will take to travel the 10494200 meters.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

45 degree angle \(\implies\) horizontal velocity \(u_h\) = vertical velocity \(u_v = u\) time of flight = \(\frac{2u}{g}\) horizontal distance travelled = \(\frac{2 u^2}{g}\) solve the consequent equation
