When he filled his gas tank, Allen noticed that the gas gauge indicated that he had used 5/8 of the tank. let x= the total capacity of the tank. Let Y= the amount of gas used. write an equation relating x and y at the time he filled the tank. B: ~His gas tank took 7.5 gallons to fill, what is the total capacity of his gas tank?

OpenStudy (shane_b):

If he used 5/8ths of the tank, the equation for that would be: y=(5/8)x For the second part he filled up 3/8ths of the tank and used 7.5 gallons to do so: (3/8)x=7.5 Just solve for x.
