I need to solve 4x^2, x=-7. Do I do 4(-7)^2 or 4*-7^2? The one gives me positive 49 and the other gives me negative 49...
The first :D
thanks!
The first one.
guys!they are both the same
negative only is considered as answer if its the case of root. For example if its √49 then the result will be both -7 and 7. i.e. both positive and negative.
Ah okay, thanks!
you are most welcomed.
4(-7)^2
they are not both the same
what's the difference b/n \[-7^{2}*4 and 4*-7\]
multiplication is commutative
you get my point?
calculators and computers really need parenthesis -2^2 first raise 2 to the 2nd power then tack on the - result is -4 ------ (-2)^2 the parenthesis ensure that the whole thing is squared not just the 2 individually but the whole -2
but what you say -7^2*4 is?
-7^2*4 calc will go like this -(7)^2*4 -(49)*4
I guess I have to admit you won P:
not about winning :P
Ok you are right! how does that make you feel?
I feel great that you learned something. :)
