this is where I got stuck in the problem. I dont think she wants us to though. shouw me anyways if it's the only way you know

taking log on both sides, log 1.6 = N log 1.09 N= (log 1.6/log 1.09)= 5.454

hmm.... i could think of only log method to solve this......

funny thing is, I think all math departments are trying to get rid of log and keep it all natural log... don't know for sure though
