4. Define judicial review. What was Chief Justice Marshall's argument in favor of this doctrine?

The power of the Supreme court to decide whether a law enacted by a legislature is constitutional or not. Chief Justice Marshall believed that the Judicial Department should have the right to say what the law is, and enforce it. If two laws clash, it is up to the courts to decide which is right and which operation will occur on each.
