.8 = a+5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a = 4.2. work: a = 5 - .8 a = 4.2. Is that all you needed?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do I check the equation and it says use the domain of rational numbers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Plug in our value for a into the equation. The domain of a problem is just any number that could make the equation true. In this case, the only number that could possibly make our equation true is (4.2). A rational number is any number that can be written as a simple fraction. We could say 4.2/1 = (4.2). That makes it rational. Understand?
