Which word best completes this sentence? The nymph feels that love turns to ____? This is a poem called THE NYMPH'S REPLY TO THE SHEPHERD. In the end of the poem she's says that "Soon break, soon wither, soon forgotten,— In folly ripe, in reason rotten. " So I want to say the answer is D. ? A. madrigal B. reckon C. gall D. wither
i think what wither was referring to were the material things. However, i cannot think of any other word
its the only one that makes sense to me too.
yeah...me too
well the nymph hates mortality..and love is an emotion of mortals....so maybe wither really is right
thanks :D
welcome
wither is wrong, but i do believe that gall is the correct answer because the def. of gall (in the book) is bitter feeling, deep despite. and its talking about the love being sour and drying up. im not sure if thats correct but thats my opinion .
