Someone please help me reduce? I have a quiz tomorrow!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have been trying to reduce for a few years. what do you want reduced?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

36in squared to ft squared! Can you help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i think so since \(36^2\) inches could be a \(6\times 6\) in area, and since 6 inches is \(\frac{1}{2}\) of a foot, then it would be \(\frac{1}{2}\times \frac{1}{2}=\frac{1}{4}\) square feet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we could accomplish the same idea by saying that since there are 12 inches in a foot, there are\(12^2=144\) square inches in one square foot, and \(\frac{36}{144}=\frac{1}{4}\)

Okay, I think I got it know! I know what to do from here! Thanks so much! :)
