Loyalists were loyal to Britain.  
The however, did like America and living in the new colony.

Narrowing it down between the last two is difficult however, beucase there are many personal reasons as there are people.
They were often friends with Patriots.  Some did not support the tax, but others did and simply wanted a voice in Parliament.  You will really have to look at what the author believes is the reason
