Question 2 (Essay Worth 6 points) Show two different ways you could break the figure into rectangles to find its area. Find the area using each method, and show that both methods give the same answer.

Where is the figure?

well you can make a vertical line to separate the two rectangles or a horizontal one. if i do a horizontal one, it will leave me with one rectangle of length 20 and width 12, while another with length and width of 3. So using the formula A=LW A = 20(12) A = 240 A= 3 * 3 A = 9 A = 240 + 9 A = 249 On the second one if i do a vertical line down, i will be left with one rectangle of a length of 3 and width of 15, while another with a length of 17 and a width of 12. Using the same steps, A = 3(15) A = 45 A= 17(12) A = 204 A = 204 + 45 A = 249 So yes, it doesn't matter what way you break it, using either method gives you the same answer.
