OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

how come if you stand on a weighing scale that is attached to an elevator that is freely falling, the scale reads 0?

OpenStudy (ujjwal):

When the elevator is falling freely, the normal reaction on you by the elevator will be zero.. And so, the weighing scale will read zero. Remember, the weighing scale reads the normal reaction!

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

why zero?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

because as you fall, the elevator falls?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

so it is as if you're not standing on the scale?

OpenStudy (ujjwal):

yes!

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

thanks
