In the integration of tan^4, why should we break it to tan^2 (tan^2) rather (tan^2)^2

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

because...your next step is to change tan^2 into sec^2 - 1

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

and also because \[\int (\tan ^2)^2\] that's not integrable...

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

does that help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah ofcourse dear..:D

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

wonderful
