x = y2 + 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What are we looking to do with this equation?

Parth (parthkohli):

\[y = \sqrt{x - 2} \]

Parth (parthkohli):

\[y^2 = x - 2 \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was thinking that too Parth.. probably it. :P

Parth (parthkohli):

There's so many things you can do with that!

Parth (parthkohli):

Solve for \(x\) when \(y = blah\). Solve for \(y\) when \(x = blah\)

OpenStudy (across):

You can even parameterize that curve.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the question asked which does not represent y as a function of x and this is the answer but she didn't tell us why

OpenStudy (across):

lol We need to know what else came before all that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, well the explanation is that you have x= something with variable y. Y as a function of x would be like y=x-2, where y is equal to something.
