f(x)= 2x + 8 if x < 1 -3x + 7 if 1 ≤ x < 3 √x-3 if x ≥ 3

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

What do you want to do here?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Graph it using graphing technology

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

what graphing devices do you have available?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

geogebra

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

ok one sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, Thankyou !

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

To graph this, you basically graph each piece separately You make sure that only a part of each piece is graph (the correct part) So for instance, you only want to graph 2x + 8 only when x < 1 So you type in function[2x+8, -1000,1] --------------------------------- To graph y = -3x + 7 for 1 ≤ x < 3, you type function[-3x + 7, 1,3] --------------------------------- To graph y = √x-3 for x ≥ 3, you type function[√x-3 , 3,1000] Note: I'm assuming only the x is in the square root Doing all this gives you what you see as attached Note: I changed the color so you can see each piece individually

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

The red piece is the first piece The blue piece is the second piece The green piece is the third piece Keep in mind where the open and closed circles are

THANKYOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP !(:
