can we used glass beaker instead of plastic cup for the calorimeter experiments?

Probably not the best because a lot of outside heat would enter or leave the system.

I had chem students calculate the heat of fusion of ice within an error of .5% using styrofoam cups and mercury thermometers. Glass beakers would be OK, but measure the level of liquid and prorate the heat absorption by the glass below the liquid level.
