Can Anyone check my awnser???? A ramp represented by segment PQ in the figure below is used to load cargo on a truck. Maya wants to find the length of the ramp What is the length of the ramp used? 6 feet 18 feet 24 feet 10 feet I think its C???????
Anybody..? :)
well your figure shows that PQ already has a length of 4 inches... not sure if you forgot part of the question, or used the wrong picture...
ooops hold on i did put the wrong picture
haha no prob i got u
there we go :)
try again
try a ratio of up to slanted
well, looking at this, we can see that these triangles are similar.. so 9/6=x/12 so the side is 18 ft
oh ok boo i was wrong lol
the question is "why were you wrong?" you have two similar triangles. Did you notice? Can you find the corresponding sides? Can you set up a ratio? can you solve the ratio?
so i wasnt wrong cause the other guy said its 18
You picked C with a ??. C=24
yeah i know i though it was 24 is it or is it something else
chemeng knows what he/she is doing (let's hope so!)
lol okay so he's correct then
But to do the problem, notice that PQ is the slanted side of the big triangle. they tell you the up side of the big triangle is 9 so PQ/9 is a good start now look for the slanted side of the little triangle, It is 12 and the up side of the little triangle is 6 12/6 slant/up of the little triangle set up the ratio PQ/9= 12/6 solve for PQ of course 12/6 is 2 PQ/9=2 multiply both sides by 9 PQ*9/9= 2*9 9/9 is 1, and PQ*1 is PQ PQ= 18
thank yu
