Please help me understand if MIT-OWC 'Introduction to Computer Science and Programming' is the right course for me. I am looking for a basic programming course that gives me the jargon to direct someone else to develop sth for me. I need to be able to understand the different type of programming languages and to communicate my idea in terms that they will understand.
Course Description This subject is aimed at students with little or no programming experience. It aims to provide students with an understanding of the role computation can play in solving problems. It also aims to help students, regardless of their major, to feel justifiably confident of their ability to write small programs that allow them to accomplish useful goals. The class will use the Python™ programming language.
Yep, I read that already, and after getting into the syllabus I get it that this course is not what I am looking for. Any suggestion as to how to find the course I am looking for?
edx.org offers a Harvard course (CS50x) that seems pretty well rounded to me. It is a long and intensive course but if you have the time and determination to stick with it, it just may be what you are looking for.
