The slope of a line is 1/3 . What is the slope of a line perpendicular to this line?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

what's the negative reciprocal of 1/3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Idk

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

what's the negative of 1/3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jewjewbri Pls, not another "idk"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know what the negative is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh my god! I just got a warning, ridiculous! I am posting these questions for help, hence asking!!! And I don't know the negative because I get random questions thrown at me online on my math class!

Parth (parthkohli):

You just flip the fraction, then get a minus sign on it. For example, if the slope of a line is 2/3, then the slope of the line perpendicular will be: 1) Flip: 3/2 2) Minus sign: -3/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh ok! So when you flip a negative fraction, will that make it a positive?

Parth (parthkohli):

Yes!
