Hubrus is the term used for when a character has overwhelming pride and that causes their downfall. Often, pride leads characters to do stupid things which often has bad outcomes. For example,Wolverine thought he could take on Sabertooth alone in X-men Origins: Wolverine. He got the crap beat out of him.
