Is there any way for the \(\LaTeX\) script to play nice with Chromium/Google Chrome?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I say this because the \(\LaTeX\) rendering looks like this on Chromium, on my system: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11066855/Looks%20ugly.png Is it just me, or are people generally having problems with this? And how does OpenStudy render MathML/\(\LaTeX\)? Because WikiMedia's renderer looks fine on here.

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

We use MathJax (see http://mathjax.org/ ). This offloads all actual rendering onto your browser. Wikimedia uses server-side LaTeX rendering to an image, which we're unlikely to switch to as it's taxing on the server for roughly equivalent results 99% of the time. That said, we'll see if the MathJax folks know anything about the font issues you're seeing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

All right, thanks. And, yeah, I read over their docs on it. It's an interesting mix between markup and PNG, but potentially difficult to keep up, especially for smaller cases like OS. Anyways, thanks for the help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually, I feel kind of stupid. I did not realize it was possible to switch renderer options (didn't even know MathJax had a context menu). Switching to the SVG renderer and scaling up worked perfectly, and the expressions display beautifully, thanks for the reference to the site!

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Awesome! I'll keep that in mind so we can suggest it next time someone mentions font issues. As for keeping it up—keep in mind we don't. The MathJax team does, and we use their code.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, yeah, I meant in terms of server-computational power, haha. And all right.

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Oh! Sorry, I thought you were referring to MathJax :)
