"You have seen how a man was made a slave; you shall see how a slave was made a man." Explain how Douglass shows that "a slave was made a man."

Frederick Douglass shows that "a slave was made a man" in his autobiography by telling the story of his emancipation and how some of his owners became kinder to him, such as Mr. Covey, although he shows "how a man was made a slave" by telling the story of one of his masters who never had a slave before and didn't know what slavery entailed, but eventually began to whip and otherwise abuse her slaves.
