the length of a rectangular banner is 5 feet longer than its width. If the area is 104 square feet, find the dimensions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This may seem hard but it's fairly easy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You know that the formula to find the area of a rectangle is A= w x l

OpenStudy (anonymous):

104 = w x l Now you know that the length is 5 feet longer than it's width so you can replace l by w + 5 New equation: 104 = w + w + 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now isolate w and you've got your width and then you can find your length

I got 13, 8 but I am lost
