Help! This is linear algebra & differential equation question: basically this time i am looking for Not Quite Exact solution.

OpenStudy (adunb8):

i got up to there plugging in x^mY^n inside but i dont quite see how he put (n+2)xy^n+1 + 3(n+3)x^m+1yn+3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm in Diff EQ right now too and this hurt my head. Hopefully somebody can help you with this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got lost at the same place

OpenStudy (adunb8):

i dont know how he took out those numbers..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh wait... n+2 and n+3 are part of the derivative when you do y^n+3. He brought he exponent down and then subtracted one, just like the normal differentiating step.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you see what I mean...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x ^{n+3}\rightarrow (n+3)x ^{n+2}\]

OpenStudy (adunb8):

oh doing the derivative i see!!! haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know what is going on at the bottom...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

of the page

OpenStudy (adunb8):

hm.. he just solved for n and m...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I see. Diff EQ is a confusing class. memorize little, but master manipulation.

OpenStudy (adunb8):

yeah manipulation .

OpenStudy (adunb8):

what happend to the m on x^m when we do dM/dy?

OpenStudy (adunb8):

oh i see at the bottom you know how it says (n+2)x^my^n+1 after we do the dM/dy ? well i think we want to find coefficent in the front so on the bottom the n+2 = m came from there =)
