Three identical objects are thrown from the same height through a window at the same time. Object A is thrown horizontally at 4.0 m/s, object B is thrown horizonatally at 8.0 m/s, and object C is simply dropped. If air resistance is negligible, which object will reach the ground first?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they all the reach the ground at the same time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because the acceleration of gravity is always on them, unless you have a horizontal velocity that makes them go really really fast like kilometers per second or something that basically makes them actually not treat the earth like a flat object

OpenStudy (anonymous):

none of the objects have any vertical velocity meaning that the the acceleration of gravity is always on them thus they all fall and hit the ground at the same time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but of course its only true if air resistance is not there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is an example of how objects fall at the same acceleration when there is no air resistance

OpenStudy (anonymous):

granted its not like your example where it has horizontal velocities but its helps prove it
