can anyone explain about c3plant, c4 plant and cam plant

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is related to the photosynthetic process in green plants. In plant photosynthesis there is step wise reactions from capture of sunlight-light harvesting system. In C3 plants CO2 first combine with RuBP, a 5-carbon sugar and form 3-phosphoglycerate (3 carbon compound) so the name. While in C4 plants there CO2 first combine with pyruvate and form a 4 carbon compound. IN CAM (Crassulacean acid metabolism), developed as an adaptation to dry condition, CO2 store as malate (4C) first. The difference between all these is only in CO2 fixation step, the downstream reactions are similar in all these type of plants. It is a broad topic please read some biology books form more information. one simple and good text book is plant biology by Raven
