during cam plants process, how does malate change to malic acid and why does it have to wait until daylight to change back to malate?

entry of CO2 from atmosphere to leaf is through stomata. CAM is an adaptation to plants living in arid conditions, if the stomata are open at day time water lose will happen by transpiration. By CO2 storing as malate during night time, these plants can use that CO2 for photosynthesis at day time while keeping the stomata closed. for the reation read some text books
