Contractor A submitted a quote for $325.00. He is told his quote is 150% higher than contractor B. What is the quote of contractor B ? Show your work.

How abot we dumb this down without all the Japanese figures etc. ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

325=B+1.5B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is why I can't do math...no one explains anything,,,,they just jump in with weird symbols and gibberish without explaining what means what.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let the quote of contractor B = B contractor A is 150%(1.5) higher than(+) contractor B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you are seeing gibberish, refresh your browser, because you should be seeing math symobles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i can write it out in english instead of math if contractor A bid was 150% higher than contractor B then it was two and a half times as large. if it was 100% larger it would be double, if it was 50% larger it would be one and a half times as large, but since it is 150% higher it is two and a half times as large two and a half times contractor B bid is 325 so to find that number, divide 325 by 2.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

All kinds of confusion here. The Mind above says the quote is 1.5 times as high, you say 2.5 times...so I don't know what believe. I believe you made an error: "if it was 50% larger it would be one and a half times as large," 50% of $325 is $650. Totally lost.
