Do you know the formula for the sum of an arithmetic series?

It's easy enough to derive. Imagine having 50 numbers: 1, 2, 3, 4, . . . , 50. The sum of the first and last (1+50)=51; likewise, the sum of the second and next-to-last (2+49)=51. So you have 25 pairs of numbers that add up to 51.
