what is the value of the base in the power (-125) to the exponet -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not sure that works. power of -3 will end up being a fraction. think the base is suppose to be negative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its the exponet of -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so like this?\[(-125)^{-3}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://www.purplemath.com/modules/exponent2.htm when ever there's a negative exponent, the base term is place as a denominator of a fraction as so:\[x ^{-b} = \frac{ 1 }{ x ^{b} }\] other properties you know follow the same rules
