we just need to isolate p by itself. and on an equation what you do to one side you have to do to the other. so the first step would be to add the 3 to both sides

when i added 3+17 i got 20 , Im confused after that

since the -3+3 just cancel out
Okay. Then do you divide 3 both sides ?
well not yet whats 1p-3p
-2p.
correct so we now have 20=-2p now just divide both sides by -2 so we can get p by itself
