Why does it matter if the root is in a hypertonic or hypotonic solution?

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

Its ability to diffuse water into the roots. If the roots were always hypotonic to the environment, then the roots will lose the water. This will kill the plant! Oh no! Baby come back!!!!!!! Anyways, diffuse is the movement of water or osmosis due to concentration gradient.

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

hypertonic solution__ 1) Greater concentration of solute outside of cell than inside. 2) Water Potential is higher; osmotic potential is lower 3) Net movement of water from the cell to the solution across a semi-permeable membrane 4) In excess, causes crenation in animal cells and plasmolysis in plant cells

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

hypotonic solution __ 1) Greater concentration of solute inside cell than outside 2) Water potential is low (0 in distilled water); osmotic potential is higher 3) Net movement of water into the cell from the solution across a semi-permeable membrane 4) A pure water solution (DH2O) can cause lysis (bursting) in animal cells and turgor pressure in plant cells

also good job friend @oOKawaiiOo

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

You did an excellent job...... you know ur biology :)

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

yaa!! but you do your in your way!!! but my language is easy and your's language is hard when we read or discover any answer...
