1) Factor out both the top and bottom for the first one.. so you will get (x+4)(x-4) / (x-4)(x-4)... so now you can see the top and bottom both contain a (x-4) so you can reduce the equation to (x+4)/(x-4)... 2) For the 2nd equation, you can eliminate and x from all 3 factors and you will get x+8/x 3) Lastly, factor them both again.. the top you can't really factor other than taking out an x thus you will have x(x+8)/(x+8)(x+2)... as you see they both have (x+8) so you will finally get.. x/x+2 Hope this helps!
