as we walk off the diving board at pool, we could notice that it bends downward by an amount proportional to each diver`s weight,right? why,huh?

If the spring obeys hooke's law, the force is directly proportional to displacement |dw:1347374755092:dw| So, if a person has smaller weight, the diving board will bend less compared to a person that has larger a weight. Force=Weight of an object is the force on the object due to gravity.
