What justifications did American revolutionaries have for declaring independence from Great Britain? How did John Locke’s concept of a social contract play a role in the fight for independence?

For the first part: The British government was tyrannical and passing unjust laws such as the Intolerable Acts. Taxation without representation.

(Also if you look at the declaration of independence the founders listed all of the reasons why the British government under King George III was tyrannical and despotic)
