the 1st diagram doesn't have a measurement on the hypotenuse... so it is a tan ratio question tan = opp/adj \[\tan(x) = \frac{28}{45}\] you are finding an angle so \[x = \tan^{-1}(\frac{28}{45})\] Question 2 to find y you have the adjacent side and hypotenuse cos = adj/hyp so \[\cos(y) = \frac{77}{85}\] angle z has the opposite and hypotenuse... sin = opp/hyp \[\sin(z) = \frac{77}{85}\] hope this helps
