the 1st diagram doesn't have a measurement on the hypotenuse... so it is a tan ratio question

tan = opp/adj

$$\tan(x) = \frac{28}{45}$$

you are finding an angle so 

$$x = \tan^{-1}(\frac{28}{45})$$

Question 2

to find y you have the adjacent side and hypotenuse

cos = adj/hyp

so 

$$\cos(y) = \frac{77}{85}$$

angle z has the opposite and hypotenuse... 

sin  = opp/hyp

$$\sin(z) = \frac{77}{85}$$
