What are the parts to a linear equation? How can we use this to help us graph it on the coordinate plane?

i actually have a link i could give you or would you prefer my own words?

own words if you dont mind

a common form of a linear equation is y=mx+b m is the slope and b is the y intercept. if you know a linear equation or how to use one then you can graph it for instance if you have y=1/2x+8 you know that it goes through the y axis at 8 and the line tilts to the right because it is positive, you also know that the next point on the line will be up one point and over to the right 2, or down one and to the left 2, make sense?
