The Barnum effect is the name given to a type of subjective validation in which a person finds personal meaning in statements that could apply to many people. For example, think of Physics, palm readers, or even horoscopes.. they prepare a statement that would be suitable for many different people, and make them believe that it was truly just their answer.. Such as, You have a need for other people to like and admire you, and yet you tend to be critical of yourself. or You often have trouble making a choice between right and wrong.. These if you think about it, right almost anyone.. However, when you read them, you think, That's so true! My horoscope was right! Get it?
Yes, I do.
Hope that helped.
