Can we see stars explode? My question is: Star 1 is 18 light years from Star 2 and 34 light years from Earth. If Star 2 explodes as a supernova, in how many years would the explosion be seen from Earth? 18 34 52 70 Here is the picture I was given: http://learn.flvs.net/webdav/assessment_images/educator_ess_v11/ouruniverse/aou024.jpg If we can see it, I would say 34 because light years are how long it takes us to get there.. Do you think that would be right?

sam (.sam.):

You have to extract the picture out from the website, I can't see it.

OpenStudy (shane_b):

All you need to do is calculate how far Star 2 is from Earth in light years. We can't see the image so there's not much more we can do to help.

@madison.bush do you know the answer
