Hi I am doing a DBA study guide for Module 3 world history on FLVS. I completed it for the most part. Can you please check & correct my answers if necessary. Also there are a couple I left blank. I cannot find the answers too, please help if you know! Thank you soo much!! ANCIENT GREECE: 1. Identify and describe 4 things that Greece invented or developed that have impacted us today a. Democracy: This type of government that means “of the people” was created by Athens and is the same type of government the US has. Athens had a “direct democracy” while the US has a “representative democracy”. b. The Olympic Games c. Theater d. 2. What 2 city-states fought in the Peloponnesian War? Athens and its allies and Sparta and its allies. 3. How did Geography affect the development of Greece? the mountians provided borders between the city states. the pass between the 2 parts provided a great defence, meditaian climate. grew olive great spots for shipping close to asia and africa. Ancient Rome: 1. What are 3 specific things that Caesar did for Rome? a. He gave grain to the peasants b. c. 2. What are 4 causes of the fall of Rome? a. The Empire became too large to manage effectively. At its height, the empire consisted of all of Europe, parts of the Middle East, and parts of North Africa. 1. Barbarians saw the advantages of the Empire. They invaded not to destroy the Empire but to take advantage of it. But in some cases they literally destroyed Rome. At any rate, the barbarians overtook much of the empire and changed its values and power structure. Centralized authority in Rome lost out. 2. Small landowners gave way to the latifundia, or big estates. The cites were flooded by people with no roots and no stable means of support; such people had to be fed and appeased. 3. Mistreatment of the Christians let to an increase of Christianity, so that the Christians eventually triumphed over the prevaiing Roman religion. The Christian ethos replaced the Roman one. Christian values are not Roman values. A new order had arrived. 4. The Empire was simply too large and cumbersome to control by a single central state; distant populations were always wanting to rebel. The cost of keeping such a sprawling Empire under control was prohibitive. Major World Religions 1. Christianity, Islam, and Judaism a. Have in common: i. They all started in the Middle East ii. All of these religions are monotheistic iii. all originate from Abraham. b. Differences: i. ii. 2. Hinduism, Buddhism a. Have in common: i. ii. b. Differences: i. ii. Which of the 7 Wonders of the World do you find the most interesting and why? I chose the the Panama Canal because it was man made.. and it is 50 miles long and 25 miles wide.. thats a lot of digging.
