(a) d is the geometric mean of e and f.
(b) a is the geometric mean of c and f.
(c) b is the geometric mean of e and c.
(d) a^2 + b^2 = e^2 + f^2

If you set up the three proportions for those three triangles, you'll see about those first three; check the algebra on the fourth one, though. That looks a little fishy..
