What's with "Use the distributive property of multiplication" instead of "Multiply it out" ? Is this the new New Math? Group Theory Demystified? or What?

I think it is a general wordings by we people.. But according to Math, we should say Distributive Property..

OK, I know it's correct but to me itsounds like 'I have to run and catch my "mechanized red object with 4 wheels" aka a bus'
