The telephone company offers two types of service. With plan A, you can make an unlimited number of calls per month for 18.50. With Plan B, you pay $6.50 monthly, plus 20 cents for each minute of calls after the first 40 min. At least how many min would you have to use the telephone each month to make Plan A the better option?
well..you already know its about 20 cents for each minute after 40 min of your call for plan B, so by subtracting 6.50 from 18.50 you get 12.00. so you need to divide 12.00 by 0.20..you do this you get 60 which is the number of minutes you would have to use the telephone each month to make Plan A the better option.
sorry i just realized that its supposed to be 10 cents but when i tried it i didn't get the right answer because i looked it up in the back of the book and its 160 but i dnt know how to get that
let me rework it..
k thanks
Okay...I made a boo boo...the question asks how many minutes would you have to use the telephone each month in order to make Plan A better. WELL....12.00 multiplied by 0.10 is 120 minutes....Now add the 40min you already have in the plan...160 min ^^
oh thanks!
again. ^^ No problem :p
wait 12 and .1 is 1.2
you have to add the 0 from the end of the 10 cents onto the 1.2...which bumps it up to 120. :p
