3x/8-1=5/8

OpenStudy (markrijckenberg):

Multiply every value on LHS and RHS by 8. Then isolate x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

LHS And RHS ?

OpenStudy (markrijckenberg):

LHS = left hand side of equation. RHS = right hand side of equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add 1 to each side then do multiply everything by 8 so you should have 3x=5-8 I think

OpenStudy (markrijckenberg):

No, after multiplying by 8, it would be: 3x = 5 + 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i see i forgot the -1 times 8 = -8 then to balance +8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I Got Something Diff. Could You Show Me How You Got It ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So here it is: multiply everything by 8 so it cancels out the 8's under 3x and 5 and turns 1 to 8 so its 3x-8=5 now add 8 to each side now its 3x=13 divide by 3 or leave as fraction: 13/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when i divided 13 into 3 i got 4.3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then use that as the answer i didnt know if it would be a good decimal
